Over 200 workers including lecturers and non teaching staff were sacked in January by the management of the Osun State Polytechnic Iree; Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke; Osun State Colleges of Education, Ilesa and Ila Orangun. But the lawmakers intervened and promised to carry out a thorough investigation into the issue to know if some of them were sacked without just cause. The lawmakers set up ad hoc committees to investigate the circumstance surrounding the actions and the reports of the committee were presented to the House and adopted following a motion by the Leader of the House, Mr. Timothy Owoeye and seconded by the Chief Whip, Folorunsho Bamisayemi. The Speaker said the reports have been deliberated upon at the executive session and justice had been done to them. He said the House would ensure that its recommendations were fully implemented by the governing councils of the institution.

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, OSPOLY, Iree has reversed the suspension of students union activities. This was stated clearly in a memo pasted around the campus and signed by the school registrar, Mr Adeniyi Odedeyi. The memo partly reads, ” In view of the above, I am directed to inform the entire students that the management has magnanimous considered the letter of appeal on resolution of internal dispute between the students union executives and the students representatives council written by two warring leadership of the students union Government dated 12th May, 2016. “In the light above, the management has resolve to lift the suspension order place on students Union activities effective from today Monday 16th may, 2016.” It could be recalled that the union activities was suspended on 10th May, 2016 which was due to rancor between the two arms of Government. The management urged every students to continue to be law abiding.

Kwara Poly to re-open radio station shut 34 years ago

>>The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, plans to re-open its radio station, to serve as source of information to its host communities. The Rector of the Institution, Masud Elelu, told journalists on Sunday in Ilorin that “Radio Polytechnic” was shut down in 1982. “My administration decided to revamp it for the purpose of disseminating information within the campus and the host communities.” According to him, the institution needs N50 million to register the radio station with the National Broadcasting Commission, for transmission rights. The rector disclosed that the institution would commence soon Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication course. “In the same vein, additional five science courses had been presented to the National Board for Technical Education, for approval.” Mr. Elelu stated that more than 300 staff of the polytechnic had undergone different forms of training in Nigeria and abroad. He reaffirmed the determination of the management of the institution to encourage training and retraining of its workforce, to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta has announced Monday, 30th May, 2016 as resumption date for all Full-Time and Part-Time National Diploma and Higher National Diploma students of the Polytechnic for the Second Semester 2015/2016 Academic Session. Meanwhile, the Institution’s Management will open the registration portal for payment of 40% balance of school fees on Monday, 23rd May, 2016.

Any student, who fails to complete his/her registration by Friday, 24th June, 2016, will be made to pay a late registration fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00), till Monday, 4th July, 2016, after which such his/her studentship will be forfeited.

PRESS RELEASE: This is to carry along all current and former students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree that the unexpected happened to our great Students' Union Government 2016 led by DM, Muhammed Surajudeen (IMOLE 01) yesterday 5th of May, 2016 in Ospoly, Iree. Please not that contrary to latest reports(most uncensored) emanating from different angles. It happened that Ospoly Students' Representative Council's meeting was hijacked by unknown men(then) who disrupted the peaceful proceeding of the house presided over by Comrade Reformer, Hafeez Olakunle Olusanjo (Speaker/NANSJCC PRO) before making away with the legislative staff of authority(mace) of our great union with which the house cannot sit nor hold it's official meeting without after the hour of 6pm at the students union building (SUB), Campus. However, proactive measures have since been put in place by S.U.G servants, students' affairs and school authorities to regain the stolen symbol, while law enforcement agents have also began investigation on the ugly incident that had house members (Speaker, DSP, Clerk and Honourables) seriously injured for trying to jealously guard and avoid the theft. Strictly for the records, it should be noted that our SUG President would like to distance himself from emerging allegations that he or any SUG Executive had played any hiding or mischievous role in the sad event and we regret that the theft is currently marking an abomination in the golden pages of our history as a union. While our SRC members are currently reserved on the matter; we also urge all students, friends and the public to assist us in bringing back the values of our great union, as we remain dedicated to improving students' welfarism in and out of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree(Osun).
